We all need heart healing, whether we realise it or not. No one on the planet is immune to the enemy or his schemes and we’re certainly not immune to the words that people speak over us. Whether it's hurt you have experienced or hurt you’ve caused others, we all need the power of God’s love to transform us from the inside out.
In this podcast, my friend, Angela Adkins shares personal stories of how she’s experienced the power of God in her own life and those she works with during her heart sessions. By the end of this podcast, you’ll understand what surrendering to His love really means.

hello and welcome everybody this is the embracing Grace podcast my name is Cindy
0:18
Nicholson and I am so happy to have my beautiful guest Angela Atkins from the
0:24
light and glor and the glory with me today Angela it is such a pleasure and I
0:30
have to just say Angela is one of those ladies that I met recently and instead
0:36
of a half an hour conversation we ended up having like an hour and a half conversation so you are such a blessing
0:43
and it's been so amazing to connect with you and I can't wait for the listeners to hear a little bit more about who you
0:49
are so welcome well thank you so much Cindy I'm so glad to be here and just
0:56
very blessed for the friendship that we are developing as well and our like heartedness and The Healing
1:03
Ministry so oh amazing so Angela you
1:08
speak my language which is probably why we had such a long call the first time we met and your heart your heart and my
1:15
heart just aligns on the identity of woman and healing that woman need to go
1:21
through and you have a Ministry that is all about healing hearts so do you want to just share a little bit more about
1:27
that and then let's get going let's just share a little bit more what's God's placed on your heart for everybody
1:33
listening today absolutely um so my husband and I have been in Ministry for the past 20
1:40
years we've been in youth ministry uh College Ministry associate
1:47
pastors Church Planters you name it we've done it we've walked through um a
1:53
lot of What Not todos and also seen a lot of amazing beautiful things that God
1:59
has done um experienced uh years ago an amazing transformative youth Revival in
2:06
Florida and God sent us five years ago to Ohio so we now live in the land of
2:13
Ohio which um is a little bit colder sometimes than Florida was so we miss
2:19
the beaches um but yeah so that that's a little bit about who I am with my
2:25
husband um on out of the ministry that my husband and I have done I also have
2:34
been equipped in Healing Ministry uh Freedom Ministry and walked through a
2:40
lot of healing personally myself and so um back 15 to 20 years ago somewhere in
2:47
there I began a healing Journey myself we walked through a lot of really hard
2:52
Church situations I walked um out of some religion and legalism that I didn't even know that I had and a lot of fear
3:00
and the Lord healed my heart and Set Me Free From Fear and began me on this journey of healing my dad actually was a
3:09
physician and the Lord told me you're not going to heal physical bodies but you're going to carry that anointing of
3:15
healing into the Next Generation and you're going to heal hearts and so for 15 years now I've been doing Ministry um
3:24
helping people walk through you know roots of pain and Trauma and helping
3:30
them receive healing through connection with god um is really what I found is
3:37
Jesus is our Healer not me um but connecting them to God and just like you were saying with identity Cindy um
3:45
learning who we are and hearing that from the Father in Heaven rather than the father of Lies is so important and
3:52
so when we recognize who we are and when Jesus speaks it to us it's just
3:57
different than when somebody else says it and once he says it it seals the deal
4:02
and I just see that people's core identity begins to shift and then they're able to walk out and be
4:08
everything they were created to be amen amen there's something so important that you just mentioned is that connection
4:16
that we have with God right everything starts with intimacy with him absolutely
4:23
yeah whatever you found to be true about that with the woman that you've worked
4:28
with so I find that once there can be a connection with God then the healing can
4:35
come um there's there's a lot of principles in the word of God that lead us to healing but the first thing is
4:42
having relationship with God and being connected to his heart and so typically
4:49
where I start is is working with them with their connection with the Lord and how they receive from God and how
4:55
they're able to hear God's voice and then uh once we get if there's a wall or
5:00
an obstacle or a situation that comes up through that then we then we address
5:06
those things um but the whole goal is always to bring the connection because Jesus said I'm the vine and you are the
5:12
branch you are the branches and so as the branch we don't want to be separated
5:18
from the vine because that's our source of life and so that's kind of the picture that I use in in the idea of
5:25
connection being the first step to Healing abely Ely and there's so much I
5:31
mean we we were just having a very long conversation before we hit record about
5:36
what's going on in the world at the moment and there is so much healing that needs to happen um absolutely we're
5:43
recording this on the 10th of October when um Florida's just been hit with two
5:50
um major hurricanes and there's going to be a lot of Devastation um left in in
5:57
its tracks so it's a it's a time of not just physical
6:02
restoration that needs to happen with physical homes that needs to be restored Etc but there's a lot of um any lives
6:09
that have been lost there's a lot of healing that will need to take place people that have potentially lost everything who now most probably a lot
6:18
many of them will hopefully be turning to God yeah during yes and and I I think
6:25
that there's beyond the storm in Florida and what's happened um you know in the
6:31
US there's a lot going on there's been a lot of rescue work happening in the
6:36
North Carolina in the Carolinas and Tennessee um there's some fires
6:42
happening right now uh I believe it's in wyomi if I'm not mistaken I did hear
6:48
about some Global things that are happening as well and I'm I'm not necessarily the one that keeps current
6:54
on all of that but I do keep current in the spirit and when the Holy Spirit alerts me I start to pay attention and
7:00
I've definitely had a lot of Holy Spirit alerts lately that this is not just on a
7:07
a local level but this is on a global level and we need to be watching and praying um but I also feel that there
7:14
are many people walking through hardship right now walking through difficult things but also with the promise of hope
7:21
if we're God's people we have the promise of hope and there's a promise of abundance and there's a promise of of
7:30
that the that the situation is not always going to be so Bleak um or so
7:35
dark and we walk through these situations that are dark but God doesn't want us to stay in that place of
7:41
darkness and it even says in Isaiah that as the darkness increases so so does the
7:47
light he wants us to rise up and shine our light rise arise and shine for your
7:52
light has come and I just feel the strong urge right now that as the body
7:57
of Christ if we are believers if we know Jesus Christ we carry the hope for this
8:03
world and so I just encourage everybody listening like be the light share your
8:09
God's story don't be silent even when there's times of hardship and if you're
8:14
walking through something hard God is with you and he will help you and don't
8:20
let your faith don't let your faith die out um the the lord gave me a word
8:26
yesterday uh it actually came in a song which I I won't sing to you right now but it was um don't fear little child
8:36
don't fear little child God is near God is near and walk
8:42
in faith my child and the Lord knows that we are his children and he wants us
8:48
to not be afraid I think it was over 70 plus times in the Bible that people were
8:53
told not to be afraid and so that's nothing new that we deal with fear or we deal with anxiety but the the Lord is
8:59
saying don't be afraid how contrary is that to what the
9:05
world teaches us right and I mean I love that you actually said that and I and I've done you know I've said this on a
9:11
podcast before is that the world has been teaching us um Feel the fear and do
9:16
it anyway and the first time I listened to it my spirit just like jumped inside of
9:23
me and it was like no nowhere not once in the Bible does it say to feel the
9:28
fear yeah you know it encourages us over and over and over again to not fear do not
9:36
fear and we hear those kind of things and it sounds really good and we accept
9:42
it as truth in our lives and then we'll Feel the fear and we'll be all nervous but actually God wants us to wait on him
9:49
until we have the peace before we move before we do anything so that is such
9:54
such a true word and again it comes back to that intimacy with him what are you
9:59
looking at Because unless you know the truth you won't recognize the LIE when it's presented to you yes being in the
10:07
word and spending time with God knowing what the word says is the only way that
10:13
you're going to identify when the lie comes right and I mean you you deal with women a lot I mean you also have a
10:19
Ministry where you go and work in Mexico um and I'd love for you to just share a
10:25
story or two um about that as well is how do
10:30
how does that um being focused on who God is rather
10:36
than looking at what the world's throwing at us because we were just talking about how there is so much fear
10:42
around us at the moment and being instead we need to be steadfast on his
10:47
love even with the work in Mexico tell us a little bit more about what you do there and how the woman have been
10:53
impacted by the work that you do so what's interesting is I feel like
10:59
Mexico is a part of my story personally and how God actually birthed uh uh the
11:06
business the light and the glory out of my story and my connections in
11:12
Mexico um I had been working with healing for years but when I went to
11:18
Mexico I met some mutual friends and we ended up just being connecting
11:25
ministering but really it was more of a connecting type trip with a pastor in PTO Viera and in the
11:34
midst of just just praying together and being together uh one of the ladies had
11:40
a situation that came up that I knew her reaction was coming from a place of
11:46
trauma in her heart and so I asked permission with a translator I needed a translator as well but I asked
11:52
permission if I could Minister into that area and they gave me the permission and
11:59
so I never do anything without asking for permission first I think that's really important because that's when we
12:05
get the open door and the go-ahead from the Lord as well and so I ended up
12:10
working with her and saw incredible breakthrough the Lord brought
12:16
her back to a memory in her childhood and he healed and helped her to forgive
12:21
which is a huge crucial part of healing I actually don't even call it a tool to healing in my workbook I talk about
12:27
forgiveness being a foundation of healing and so uh that actually
12:33
opened the door for me to work in Mexico and challenged me to begin to make
12:38
training materials because what I had at that point was all in my head I had been
12:44
trained by many different places I had uh you know learned a lot personally but
12:50
had never taken what was in my mind and you know put that into a way that where
12:57
habac talks about right the vision so that those that read it can run I'd never thought about like multiplying who
13:03
I was or multiplying the vision and so my heart's passion in this season I feel like the Lord said it's time to multiply
13:10
healing healers it's time to multiply the people who know how to heal who know the tools to heal whether it's for their
13:16
own personal life whether it is for their you know homes because we can walk
13:22
our children through healing um before they even have years to develop the traumas it's like when when there's a
13:28
trauma we can take them through tools that will help them to walk in full wholeness and walk in healing all of
13:34
their lives and I'd love to see the education systems experience healing there's a lot of kids that are suffering
13:41
in the education systems and if if the Lord ever opens the door for me to go in and do trainings I'm I'm praying for
13:48
doors to open even in the public school Arenas because these people need the you
13:54
know need God they need God they need healing God's way and so um that was one
14:00
of the opportunities that opened up was I was asked to come back and do a training for the staff there and uh I
14:07
had no material and so they asked for material and I began to write my workbook and then they translated it and
14:13
then I made it better and published it and so that's kind of how all of this got birthed um was through realizing and
14:22
recognizing that there was a need out there for more people to be trained in healing and so that's a passion of my
14:28
heart is to see leaders trained up in the area of healing
14:34
and sure how are they running with it and I'd love for you to just show your book as well so that um everybody knows
14:41
that that is also available on Amazon um this is the workbook heart sessions with
14:47
Jesus volume one and it's basic tools for healing and freedom I'm hoping to write a few more um as I have the time I
14:56
already have the thoughts processes of what they're going to be but they're not they're not available yet and you said
15:03
the ladies in Mexico were already using that even though it's not being translated yet right yes so um I am
15:10
working on fully translating the the the original translation is there but um I'm
15:16
working on fully translating this workbook and they actually have the English workbook right now they're working with a group of women that's
15:23
called project Ruth and uh they come from really difficult situations and uh
15:29
a lot of abuse poverty trauma type situations that they're ministering to these women and uh they sent me a
15:36
picture of 15 women with the English book even though they don't speak English they're using Google Translate
15:42
to walk through it and uh they're not waiting and I just love the hunger that's there and I think that has
15:48
propelled me I I think that yes I am helping them but they're helping me
15:53
because every time I go there I'm challenged and um drawn by the hunger
15:59
that they have the openness to receive and um just their love for what I'm
16:06
doing has really brought an affirmation to me as well so I just love how we can work like even you and I in our
16:13
connection you know here you are in the UK and I'm in the US and we connected
16:18
online and or through a mutual friend actually online um and I just love how
16:23
God can expand what we're doing and bring us into new places to be able to
16:28
share and equip but also to receive and I feel like that's also a relationship I'm having with you Cindy that we get to
16:35
receive from each other and grow together yeah absolutely and there's something about um the hunger that you
16:43
mentioned that is so different when people are in Desperate situations right
16:50
there we have a different hunger when we walking through a Wilderness season to when we feel like we're on top of the
16:56
mountain and we seemingly don't need God what is what have you seen in terms of
17:02
people's hunger that changes their situation and the posture that they have towards God
17:10
that's such a good question such a good question on Monday nights we meet with
17:15
our women's group and we're going through this topic of discipleship right now and it's so interesting that this is
17:22
coming up because on Monday night we actually talked about what what are the
17:29
pros and the cons of discipleship so to speak like what's what makes it easy to disciple people um is it something we
17:37
love is it something we don't look forward to or like how are we good disciples like we all these different
17:43
questions and I think one of the main takeaways we had was that hunger Hunger
17:49
makes a good a good experience with discipleship and when I think about the
17:55
women that I've worked with my favorite experience Es are the ones who are
18:01
hungry who come to me and they say I'm going you know this is going on and sometimes it can be really really tough
18:07
situations but then I say okay I want you to do this and they do it just like
18:13
that they're like okay I'm going to go do it um and what I found is to to test
18:18
the hunger how how legitimately people want to shift and change because there
18:24
is a shift and a change and we have to be more uncomfortable with where we
18:30
are willing to to move into a shift where we we get out of the even though
18:36
it's not a good place it's sometimes this level of comfort where we are and we have to be willing to shift out of it
18:43
to get into the good that God has for us and there's some people who just they want to come and talk about their
18:49
situation but they really want to stay in a negative place about it and those
18:55
those are are not the place that's not what I'm looking for and I think that's not what we should be looking for Jesus
19:01
looked for the hunger and honestly he he people who came after him were usually
19:09
the ones typically that got healed uh that got delivered that got raised from the dead because they were hungry you
19:15
think about the woman who like pushed through the crowd to get to his robe and she wasn't supposed to be there she was
19:22
unclean she was in the wrong place at the wrong time according to everyone
19:27
around her the religious leaders would have shut her out and instead she just kept pushing in pushing in because in
19:34
her faith she knew Jesus had what she needed and she knew that she had to somehow get to him through the crowd and
19:42
we have to have that kind of hunger I just feel that oh I feel that all over like we have to have that kind of hunger
19:48
and it was interesting because as we were talking about that Monday night um one of my leaders actually mentioned she
19:56
paused for a second and she said I'm just thinking am I that disciple am I
20:04
that hungry that I take the time and the space to seek the Lord and I think it's
20:10
such a good question for us to ask ourselves whether we are leaders discipling others or whether we are a
20:16
disciple like are we responding in hunger that is so so true and I love
20:23
that you mentioned this Comfort space that we sit in because
20:28
I've I've got this thing where we say sometimes we are loyal to our own hurt we protect the thing that is really
20:36
hurting us rather than being able to rather than being bold and stepping out
20:42
of that comfort zone and seeking what we actually need so if you for example take
20:48
um if you use exercise as an example right and I I always use myself when I
20:54
when I speak about this because I'm in that exact position I don't exercise I know that it is better for me to
21:02
exercise and I know that my body needs it I say it nearly every single day but
21:07
it's easier for me to sit with a discomfort that I feel than going through the discomfort and that initial
21:15
pain of of going through that you know first steps of exercise to get to the place where I now then feel healthy
21:23
so we do that in our spiritual lives as well you know we're what I'm actually
21:28
doing is protecting what is hurting me by not wanting to go through the
21:35
discomfort yes of of getting healthy so that loyal to your own hurt and then you
21:40
were talking a little bit I mean you you didn't use the word as such but vulnerability you know being able to
21:46
share vulnerability to me um is not
21:52
putting something out on Facebook or on social media and saying oh I am not
21:57
doing great today right and then leaving it there and everybody's going oh are you okay are
22:03
you okay can we help can we come over whatever and nothing there's crickets nobody's saying a word that's not
22:11
vulnerability vulnerability is being able to share what you're going through
22:16
because you're asking for help or sharing something that is going to help
22:22
somebody else yes and that is what us as disciples and leaders
22:29
need right is being able to be vulnerable because we're asking for help
22:34
because leaders need help as well and so you are also helping somebody else do
22:39
the same which is exactly what you were saying earlier about sharing your story it is so important for us to share our
22:46
stories um because we there are people that have been assigned to us that need
22:53
that breakthrough and I've got it on my wall yet I need to read it it was a Oh no I haven't written on his name so I've
22:59
got no idea who who said it um and I wish I did but he said you are most powerfully positioned to serve the
23:06
person you once were yes that's so good and and I think that's so true because that's what I'm
23:13
doing really is I I I was and I haven't shared a lot of the personal stories um
23:20
but I I myself had walls I had to fight through I had you know Pride that I had
23:27
to put down and a vulnerability in leadership is huge um and it is also hard because as
23:37
Leaders we get hurt a lot people get hurt a lot they don't think of you
23:42
sometimes as a person and so what gets said about you you have to develop some
23:48
tough skin um and yet still keep your love on and keep forgiving and so I
23:54
really have a heart to see leaders find a safe place for for healing themselves
23:59
because if we are taking um places if we end up walking through pain and we're
24:05
not handling it well and we're stuffing it down and we're not taking care of it then we literally poison the people we
24:11
lead and whether that's a mom with her kids or whether that's like a mega church it's it's what happens and so I
24:19
just really do have a heart for leaders to have a safe place to heal because I think safety is important in healing you
24:26
don't go in and get surgery with a surgeon um in a place that's
24:31
dirty and busy you go into a room that is you know sterile and clean and been
24:37
prepared for that surgery and so in the same way I think we need to treat hurting hearts in that way where it's
24:43
like we're providing a place where there is safety where they can get the healing that they need and possibly even the
24:50
surgery if it's been you know an infection that has been going ongoing
24:55
and uh I had I had a man at one of our we do encounter weekends I had a man come to one of our encounter weekends
25:01
who was in his 60s and had not confessed a serious situation if if you can
25:09
imagine 60 years of holding in something 60 years of holding in pain and then the
25:18
the level of demonic torment that comes with that and just everything else
25:23
because there hasn't been a safe place to be able to share and I mean that just
25:30
I wanted to go home and cry you know and I mean I was praising God because there was so much Freedom that day there was
25:36
so much healing that day and yet to know that that someone carried a burden for
25:41
60 years and was unable to share that with someone who could help them walk
25:46
through freedom and healing um just there's so many people out there who
25:51
need that and you you train up leaders to be able to deal with heart healing yes I
26:01
mean my my desire is that my workbook could be used in small groups I would
26:06
love for people to get equipped through my programs um I have a six-month
26:12
mentorship that's coming up and I'm going to be doing a deep dive into these basic tools of healing and deliverance
26:18
as well as walking people through their own healing it's called from trauma to Triumph um that's that is a start that's
26:25
an online program so people from any where can jump into that I do have
26:30
limited spaces on that mentorship but if anyone's interested in that we can put
26:36
the link up or or put some more information about that um another thing that I'm about to release is a online
26:43
course that is a six- week online course that hopefully will be able to be used
26:49
with small group material so someone could get my workbook and lead a small group through it and if they're not
26:55
comfortable in doing the teachings on their own they can have the 15 to 20 minute videos along with it um they can
27:03
also take the course online if they want to take it personally for themselves but that's going to be available soon we
27:09
have it in editing process right now and my heart is to get this material out to
27:14
as many people as possible to get people equipped and trained the other option
27:20
this is the last one that I'll mention right now but I am going to certain locations and I'm honestly I'm willing
27:27
to travel globally if the Lord will supply the finances for the travel um
27:32
but I am doing trainings uh I I call them workshops but also they're kind of
27:37
like Gatherings of at least 10 people and um can be up to 40 I think but it
27:45
needs to not be too big of a gathering where I will train uh through all of the
27:52
different basic tools of healing and freedom and then it's a partial like 50% of it is train
27:58
the other 50% of it is encountering healing personally for yourself and then Al also understanding how to incorporate
28:05
and use the tools in a practical way because I believe that people don't just need to hear about it but they need to
28:11
do it and practice it you know and so there's practices that go along with it and if I would stay it's two days long
28:18
if I stay for a third day um I can also do personal healing sessions what I call
28:24
Heart sessions and um they deal with you know people on a person personal level and what they're walking
28:31
through do you want to just share a little bit more about your heart sessions what is what is the process
28:36
that you follow so the heart sessions are you can do those online or in person but they
28:43
are individual sessions where you meet with me um sometimes if I do multiple
28:49
sessions with a person I will bring in an intercessor or someone who's been equipped and trained on my team to help
28:56
me as well we it every every session is unique to the individual I'm working
29:02
with and so uh it is completely spirit-led and sometimes can walk in
29:09
more of a Freedom Lane and sometimes can walk more in a healing Lane and they
29:14
work together because I believe healing and freedom are they're kind of like twins um somebody if somebody gets
29:21
healed but they don't get freed and delivered then um they can get re wounded and if somebody gets freed and
29:29
delivered but they didn't actually get healing from the part then then they've got a raw area where the Demonic can
29:37
come back and land on them again and so there's a level of both that happens but
29:43
my my main the the way I put a session together is um I I pray first I plead
29:51
the blood of Jesus over the people and then uh we invite the Holy Spirit to
29:56
speak and a lot of it is facilitating what Jesus wants to do and so there's a
30:02
lot of freedom in it there's a lot of um just Allowing God to show up and there's
30:09
not really a right or wrong with how it goes but by the end I usually see typically people are like I one lady I
30:17
met with recently I'll just share her her what she said at the end of her session she said um I have been and I
30:24
don't remember how old she was but it was probably something about 40 years before we were dealing with something when she was a teenager and she said I
30:32
have uh been through over 10 years of therapy with this and I have never felt
30:38
as good and as light as I feel at this moment where Jesus actually went to that
30:44
situation and brought his healing and his truth over it and she walked through
30:49
some forgiveness as well but she that was out of her own mouth and I I don't think what I do does not replace what
30:57
therapy does or what counseling does and I'm not a counselor I'm not a therapist that's really important to know like
31:03
that's not what my goal is my goal is that you have connection with God and you receive healing through Christ um
31:10
and and identity just like you do that's where we mesh together in that you know
31:16
a lot of what I do does work with the identity of a of a person and what their
31:21
core belief system is what I call it but their core belief system if they're believing a lie in their core they can
31:28
know everything up here that is right and good for example if um if someone
31:34
has been abandoned as a child but they know God is with them all the time they know this scripture they know the truth
31:41
but they still feel like God's abandoning them in their hard times because their perspective needs to shift
31:47
because where where they're walking out of is from their core of their experience because they were abandoned
31:53
and they haven't been healed from it yet wow wow there's so much in
31:59
there so much in there and it's something that man I almost want to say that
32:06
everybody needs uh absolutely I haven't met a person yet who
32:12
doesn't myself included myself included and I'm still still in work still in
32:18
process I'm putting my hand up there as well I'm thinking I need to call you after conversation with you after this
32:25
but it's so true everybody needs this because I don't think there's anybody on the face of the planet that has had such
32:31
a Carefree life that right that has not encountered something that has affected
32:37
them in a way where where it has opened the door to the enemy in some shape or
32:43
form it doesn't matter how long you've been saved or the the journey that
32:48
you've been on um you know one word spoken Over You by
32:54
somebody many many many years ago can still have an impact on your life today without you even realizing it absolutely
33:03
um I can give an example if we have the time I don't know how much more time we have um an a personal example I prefer
33:10
to use personal illustrations just because the people who come to me unless I get particular permission for their
33:16
stories um I don't want to tell their stories because of the safety Factor so
33:21
yes I I have a great illustration of how words can impact us and it is such a
33:28
that that sticks and stones can break your bones but words can never hurt you is is such a lie such a lie and um I
33:35
feel like my whole Ministry is breaking down that myth because words do hurt us and they do Define us and they also give
33:42
us life I mean it says the in the power of our tongue is life and death yeah and
33:48
sometimes we don't realize the power of what we're saying or speaking over our children over ourselves over our spouses
33:54
over people that we love um but I I had an experience when I was younger where I
34:01
was about seven or eight years old and I was a pretty serious child and enjoyed speaking with
34:09
adults but didn't really go play with the kids my age that much now I had friends but I didn't really love the
34:18
activity the same way that they did and I loved to read and I really love to
34:23
read um and a part of this could have also come from my parents until I was seven did not realize that I had an
34:29
eyesight issue and I had a pretty big eyesight issue so thinking back um I
34:35
potentially stayed closer to them than normal kids did because of the fact that
34:41
I couldn't see as well and I didn't know I couldn't see as well because it was my frame of reference but once we found it
34:47
out and we got me glasses you know things shifted a little bit for that but anyway I love to read books and I was
34:54
just reading a book waiting on my parents and I overheard a conversation that I probably was not supposed to
35:01
overhear uh but a couple had come over to my parents and expressed concern
35:06
about me and said you know I don't think your daughter is going to socially be
35:11
Adept or do well in her future if you don't get her out to socialize more and
35:18
I was homeschooled at that point as well and so they probably did not appreciate my parents' choices but until that
35:25
moment I never felt like there was anything wrong with me and when I heard them talking about me I really realized
35:33
there's something I'm different than most kids and that's wrong there's
35:38
something wrong with me now did I know that I started thinking that way nope did not know but later in life I had
35:46
some wonderful leaders who were leading me through some healing and we were trying to figure out I believe it was
35:53
something to do with why I got intimidated and shut down in certain situations
35:58
and I felt very intimidated by leaders there were a couple different things God healed me in that helped me with this
36:04
but this was one of the major factors was Jesus brought me back to that memory
36:10
and I never would have found that memory I don't know that I would have even remembered it without him but he
36:15
revealed that to me and when we asked him what the truth was what was the lie I was believing and what the truth was
36:23
um the truth he spoke to me was you are different he didn't make something up
36:30
which I thought was so cool like he's not going to tell you like well you're just the same as everybody else and I'm
36:36
just going to make you feel better no he's like you are different he said I created you that way and it is a good
36:43
thing because it is equipping you to be the leader I've called you to be you cannot be like everyone else and lead
36:51
people and it shifted my perspective completely because what it did was
36:56
affirmed who I was and suddenly I felt the Liberty to be different because I
37:02
had spent all of my life trying to be the way everyone else wanted me to be or
37:09
what I felt like was wrong I was trying to shut that part down when it was actually something that was right that
37:16
was helping me be set apart in the way that God wanted us and I just want to say this it's not just me but every
37:22
person who is listening to us right now is unique you are individual you are
37:29
created a specific way for a specific purpose and if you will Embrace that
37:35
rather than reject that part of you and you will let God speak into that part of
37:40
you you will find yourself flourishing in the way that he created you to be rather than comparing yourself and the
37:47
Bible tells us it's a sin to compare which I would have never thought of I'm comparing myself with others but truly
37:54
because I was trying to fit in and be like them that is a comparison method
37:59
and that's not the way God works that so much speaks about what
38:04
happens in Genesis right God had already created man in His image and in his
38:10
likeness we are already like God and the enemy comes and says when you do this
38:15
when you eat this fruit you will be like God that is where that the birth of this
38:21
us needing to be and do things to be
38:26
like God if you're Christians or to be like you know somebody that people
38:32
idolize for example they try so hard to fit into the mold that this the world
38:38
has created when God is saying there is so much Freedom if you just sit in my loveely and know that I love you and
38:47
I've already created you to be who you are for a purpose yes sure so beautiful
38:54
I love it and God didn't create us for pain that's something I've realized you know in the garden there wasn't pain and
39:01
When sin came in pain came in but that wasn't God's original intention and if
39:06
we are working towards you know his Heavenly plan and his original attention in our life then we have to recognize
39:13
his heart is not to cause pain in our lives he wants to heal us and sometimes
39:19
we have a wrong perspective of the what God is doing to us when it's not
39:24
actually him but the consequences of and pain in our world and sometimes our own
39:30
Disobedience that leads us to the paths that we're in and then we tend to blame
39:35
God for doing that but it's also hindering us from getting the healing we need because we're actually isolating
39:42
ourselves or or putting up a wall to God when he's the one that can redeem and
39:47
help us through what we're walking through that is so true and again it
39:53
comes down to us actually what are we focusing on right if if our eyes are
39:59
turned towards Jesus and who we are in him because we are already seated in
40:05
Heavenly places so we can already operate from that place of love yes who
40:11
there is no fear because God is love and there is no fear in him and it says that
40:17
um in that same scripture it says that um those who fear is a fear is
40:23
punishment right so when you live outside of God's love we actually living in a place of punishment we're punishing
40:29
ourselves by choosing to focus on what the world has to offer or the the
40:35
thoughts that you're not worthy or you're not good enough or you feel your guilt or your shame you're actually
40:41
punishing yourself when you're outside of that boundary of Love um and so
40:46
important that we focus I mean again we coming back to what we spoke about earlier is what are we keeping in front
40:51
of us what are we looking at because if we're in the word and we're in his in
40:56
his presence and spending time intimately with him we won't have time to focus on everything else that's
41:04
coming our way yes yes and he's calling us there he's calling us into his
41:10
presence um I couldn't do what I'm doing without him I wouldn't want to you know
41:17
um it's it's his spirit in me that heals the broken and makes me want to cry
41:24
because I I love my times with the Lord and if I wouldn't have those times I
41:30
wouldn't make it through the things and it's not even making it through it's we
41:35
can flourish we can be in a place of abundance but earlier when you were speaking I actually had a picture of the
41:42
promised land and you were saying when we were talking about the discomfort that it takes you know the Israelites
41:48
were not ready to be so uncomfortable as to go take the Giants out in the land and I believe God has a promised land
41:56
for each one of us but there are giants we have to overcome and his word if we'll meditate on it and we'll sit in
42:02
his presence we'll have the confidence the righteous are as bold as a lion and
42:08
we always Triumph through Christ Jesus and we are more than conquerors and we are Overcomers and the word is
42:14
constantly telling us who we are and if we will just read it the truth will set us
42:20
free it's in there but we need to believe it we need to activate our faith
42:25
and if we're not activating our faith probably activating fear and that's just not a good place it's not a healthy
42:31
place so we have to be intentional we have to be intentional in every day I have to be intentional when I wake up
42:38
like I'm not going to live in a life in in a I'm GNA have a choice of faith I'm not going to live in a life of fear I'm
42:45
not going to live in a life of negativity I'm going to choose Faith even when my circumstances look Bleak
42:52
for example we just walked through this hurricane and it was supposed to be a category five and my brother was right
42:58
in the line of this hurricane and um I was praying and praying and praying and
43:04
we had intercessors everywhere we didn't give up just because it looked Bleak you
43:10
know but we went to war and we begin to ask God for his heart and his his plans
43:16
I mean the winds and the wave obey him right amen but because I know that he's good and I know that he's patient and I
43:23
know that he's kind even though sometimes judgment has to come that's not who God is he's slow to wrath he's
43:30
quick to Mercy and so we prayed and we we took the authority we had as Sons and
43:37
Daughters of God because it says that creation is groaning yes for the Sons and Daughters of God to be revealed and
43:44
part of that is that we hold Christ within us and if we hold Christ within us then his authority God has given him
43:52
all authority all authority has been given to Christ and if all Authority has been given to Christ and he dwells in us
44:00
then guess what all authority has been given to us which is a heavy weight if
44:05
we are not hearing what God is wanting so we need to be in his presence we need to know his will but if we don't know
44:11
his will we can pray the way Jesus told us your will be done your Kingdom Come
44:17
On Earth as it is in heaven that's a beautiful prayer because whatever his
44:22
will is is what we are requesting and asking for but what I'm learning is I
44:27
also have authority to command the darkness to leave I see people delivered from demons because I know how to
44:35
command Darkness not because of my might or my power but because of the holy
44:40
spirit that lives in me and this hurricane it was a storm Jesus said why
44:46
are you being afraid disciples they're like we're gonna die we're gonna die right and he goes you of little faith
44:54
like like don't be afraid peace be still and he spoke to the wind and the waves
45:00
you know does that mean we never have disasters does that mean we never have losses I mean I I no it doesn't I've
45:06
gone through losses I've gone through a lot of hard things you know that I don't fully understand and may not fully
45:13
understand till heaven but I do know that my God is good I know that our God is good and I know that he has the
45:20
answers and he is with us through every storm of life I want you to and and on that no I
45:27
want you to share what what we spoke about um earlier about Psalm um 46 yes I
45:33
was just thinking what a perfect way to probably close up yeah I think I'm just going to read the whole Psalm it was on
45:40
my heart this morning as I woke up and I just want to mention this painting right here that I'm sitting by one of the
45:46
reasons I love to be by it is because it was uh painted by a painter who was
45:53
painting the theme of be still and know that I am God and that comes from this Psalm
45:59
46:10 um in the midst of all of the turmoil that we face and I if you're
46:05
human you're probably facing some kind of trial or turmoil that is just what we
46:10
do as humans um and and with all that's going on we can't help but be affected
46:15
by some of the things that are happening even on the global levels the Nationwide levels and you know the community levels
46:23
that we are a part of and I just think think this Psalm is such a comfort and a
46:29
reminder of who God is in our lives so I'm just going to read through it here this is from the passion translation
46:35
which I I like to read this version sometimes and it really spoke to me this morning says God you are such a safe and
46:43
Powerful place to find Refuge you are a proven help in time of trouble more than
46:50
enough and always available whenever I need you so we will never fear even if
46:57
every structure of support were to crumble away we will not fear even when
47:04
the earthquakes and shakes moving mountains and casting them into the sea for the Raging Roar of Stormy winds and
47:11
crashing waves cannot erode our faith in you and then it says SAA which is you
47:18
know pause and think about that even that hurricane coming the
47:23
Raging Roar of the stormy winds couldn't erode the faith that God's people
47:30
had God has a constantly flowing river whose sparkling streams bring joy and
47:35
Delight to his people his river flows through the city of God most high into his holy Dwelling Places God is in the
47:43
midst of his City secure and never shaken at Daybreak his help will be seen with the appearing of the Dawn when the
47:50
nations are in uproar With Their tottering Kingdoms what a picture God
47:56
simply raises his voice and the Earth begins to disintegrate before him which
48:02
is almost a scary picture right yeah but then it says here he comes the commander
48:08
the mighty Lord of Angel Armies is on our side that's the key because he's on
48:14
our side if we're living in him Psalm 91 which I don't have time to read but go
48:20
read it if we are in his Refuge if we are being obedient to him if we have
48:25
come underneath his shelter then we have the mighty Lord of Angel Armies on our
48:30
side Jesus is our Salvation the god of Jacob fights for us and then it says to
48:36
pause again which we don't have a lot of time for but go back and read through
48:41
this yourself and just pause in his presence and let God reassure you that
48:46
he is with you no matter what is happening with all that is shaken and then we come to the the final verses
48:54
which um is where where this this picture came from um everyone look come
49:01
and see the breathtaking Wonders of Our God for he brings both Ru and Revival
49:08
and I loved that because you know there is a destruction of the wicked that has to happen for God to have Revival on the
49:15
earth and we see this throughout scripture you know his heart was never to annihilate the Nations that Israel
49:23
walked through as they walked out of Egypt he just wanted his people free and he wanted people to live in
49:30
righteousness and so there came to a place where the sins were before him or perhaps the the nation came against his
49:38
beloved people and then there was war there was war but in that way God is a
49:45
God of War but his heart is not to create Wars his heart is for peace to be
49:51
restored that he wants peace makers on the Earth right so he brings both room
49:57
and Revival and so my prayer even with the hurricane with the fires with all
50:02
the different things happening all across the Earth and even in Israel right now what's happening my prayer is
50:08
that Revival is coming from out of the runes out of the runes out of the ashes
50:14
he makes Beauty for Ashes this is the hope that we have and this is what our prayers um what our prayers need to be
50:21
right now says he's the one who makes conflicts end so he doesn't create the conflicts he ends the conflicts he's the
50:29
one who makes conflicts end throughout the Earth breaking and burning every weapon of war and then here's verse 10
50:36
surrender your anxiety and I just want to encourage you to take a moment right now as you are listening to the sound of
50:43
Cindy and my voices and that you would just surrender your anxiety to God right
50:49
now to be still and realize that he is God I am God above all the nations is
50:56
what he says and I am exalted throughout the whole earth here he stands the
51:02
commander the mighty Lord of Angel Armies is on your side the god of Jacob
51:09
fights for
51:21
us am I show him my worship time this morning and I wish I knew remembered
51:28
what the song was um but it it speaks about when Jesus
51:33
takes his last breath and the veil is torn and the Earth begins to shake and I
51:39
can't remember what this I love that song and you know there was it it felt
51:44
like even in the song there was this break and if you can imagine a stadium and I didn't even think I would be
51:50
talking about this now but if you imagine a stadium where everybody's holding their breath waiting to see
51:57
whether or not their team is going to score and I was it was like there was
52:02
this break in the song of just everybody holding their breath and then suddenly the Angels just
52:10
erupting with praise knowing that they had the victory on their
52:16
side because Jesus had a when Jesus gave up his breath Jesus was never crucified
52:22
and killed by Satan the word says He gave up his breath it was all on him to
52:30
do what he needed to do so he gave up he was in control of giving up his last
52:37
breath and he was in control of taking that first breath again and as you were reading that I
52:44
just I it was like I heard the eruption of the Angels again going yes you know
52:50
this and and if you think about a stadium of people cuz that's sort of what we can relate it to is just that
52:56
the scores and the crowd just goes absolutely wild and that is being
53:03
still and knowing that he is God and that victory that comes in when we
53:09
realize who he is because ultimately it is not about
53:14
us yeah and I wish I could remember what battle it was related to
53:20
but this was written after a battle and so they were actually looking at what
53:26
God had done and then saying be still and know that this is this is our God he
53:33
is for us he is for us yeah it's in the
53:38
aftermath yeah and I love I mean that word surrender is just such a big word for me because it's not when we think
53:45
about surrendering in the physical in in times of War we think about our hands
53:51
going up you know handing over our power and the enemy takes away your clothes
53:58
and he exposes your nakedness and he um takes away your voice because you're not able to speak and you know he takes away
54:05
everything of who you are in surrender to him but with Jesus surrender is so
54:14
different because when we lift up our hands and surrender to him God is saying
54:20
come up and come and sit on my lap and he clothes you mhm and he heals you and
54:26
he gives your voice back and he gives you a plan and a purpose for your life
54:32
yes and surrender is so different because surrender With the Enemy is fear
54:37
and punishment but surrender with God is love perfect love and perfect peace and
54:43
that is what God wants for each and every one of you listening today is he wants to give you his love and his peace
54:51
where there is absolutely no fear and he wants to give you a plan and a purpose
54:57
because that's what he has for you and he's written about it way before you were born God knew God knew
55:04
you and he's got something special for you and there are people that are waiting for you to come alive in
55:13
Christ and hear from him what that plan and purpose is there are people that are
55:18
waiting on you to step into what God calls calls you to do so wow okay on
55:26
that note Angela thank you so so so much for taking up time this morning it's so
55:33
early for you to just spend some time with me and just sharing what God's placed in your heart it was so
55:39
special thank you for inviting me I'm blessed you so welcome I want to just
55:45
before you go I want would love for you to just share both your books again please because you've also written a new
55:51
book which has recently been released um T broken yeah
55:57
yeah um twice broken is a book that just came out it's a novel and it's about a
56:03
story of healing really uh um a woman who went through really dark times and
56:09
how Jesus brought Redemption into her life but it's also a fun and easy read
56:14
um but speaks to the heart so and then this was the one that I showed earlier was heart sessions with Jesus volume one
56:20
the basic tools for healing and freedom um Angela atkins.com
56:26
where you can find all of my resources and uh you can schedule heart sessions
56:32
uh my mentorship is not actually on my website but I will um be putting up a
56:37
link there and I also uh we can put some information to your viewers for that if
56:43
anyone's interested then I can definitely have them get in touch with me um the best way to do that actually
56:49
is there's a contact me on my website and if you go to that contact me or you schedule a session you can put you know
56:57
a message to me like I would like more information about this six-month mentorship online and then I can give
57:03
you all of that information as well great I'll get all the links from you and added into the show notes so was
57:10
there great any last any last messages on your heart that you'd like to
57:16
share I just loved what you said about surrender and I think that when we realize that Jesus always has something
57:22
good for us uh it shifts everything because his he exchanges it's called The
57:28
Divine exchange that's actually in my workbook as well but it's about how he exchanges the beauty for the ashes you
57:34
know and we don't like to give our ugly um but I loved what you said about that
57:40
that because a lot of times surrender means something bad but with Jesus it's
57:45
always something good and so I think that's where we should leave it is the challenge of what do you need to
57:50
surrender to Jesus today and allow him to give you
57:56
Gifts of love to you and maybe you haven't given your heart to Christ maybe
58:02
you need full surrender in your life and I would just encourage you surrender today don't wait because the best gift
58:09
we could ever have is the gift of life that he gives us says the wages of sin
58:14
is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ Our Lord and that's where it all starts it's where
58:20
connection starts it's where healing starts it's where Freedom starts it's where it all comes from is through Christ and and so that's the best place
58:27
to start and if you've been walking with him for years and uh you just need a
58:33
closer walk with him then I encourage you you know surrender what's what's weighing you down today surrender it to
58:39
him he knows what to do and his burden is light amen amen thank you so much so
58:49
everyone thank you so much for joining I know that this has touched your heart
58:55
and I pray that you will seek God's face and seek to spend time with him in his
59:01
presence so that he can bring the healing that you need Angela is available and I'll share all her contact
59:07
details in the show notes um below um so please do reach out to her if you'd like
59:12
to have a heart session with her um and yes and if you'd like to to join her on
59:17
that mentorship Journey as well so always remember that you are loved you
59:23

59:28
